Psychotherapy via referral

The Swedish healthcare system might seem complex or new to you, but don’t worry. We have compiled all the key information about how you seek psychotherapy via referral right here!

Region Skåne offers a service called Vårdval Psykoterapi that allows those who are registered in Skåne to seek psychotherapy within the healthcare guarantee. The healthcare guarantee includes problems like depression, anxiety and relational issues. Therapy forms included are Psychodynamic therapy (PDT), Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). You can get a referral from your health center, which you then send to a clinic in paper format. When we get your referral we contact you to let you know that we have received your referral. We also inform you of the waiting time for the treatment you are interested in. For more information about our waiting times, please see our FAQ section. The waiting time for psychotherapy via referral is often longer than for private psychotherapy. One of our therapists will contact you when the waiting time is due to book a first appointment.

What is PDT?

Psychodynamic therapy gives you an opportunity to explore and reflect upon your inner and outer life together with your therapist. You are invited to seek a greater understanding of how your problems relate to you as a person and to your life story. The psychodynamic framework of object relations theory puts emphasis on the importance of our early relationships and life experiences. Through exploring your history you might gain a greater understanding of yourself today. We will help you create a lasting change that will lead you to greater wellbeing.

If you receive PDT through a referral the maximum number of sessions is 25 + one follow up session. However, if you are a private client the number of sessions is unlimited. You and your therapist will make a treatment plan that sees to your needs.

What is CBT?

CBT is an umbrella term referring to theories concerning cognition and behavior. CBT can be likened to a toolbox, making it possible to customize the treatment to your specific needs. You and your therapist will make a treatment plan that sees to your needs. New methods in CBT that we offer include Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness and Compassion focused therapy (CFT). A common factor among CBT methods is a high level of structure, clear goals and an active therapist. The focus is mainly on identifying and finding new attitudes towards thoughts, feelings and values, as well as making behavioral changes. This creates an opportunity to find new ways of relating to your problems and to get your life moving in the direction you want it to.

We offer CBT in two different lengths, called CBT-long (KBT-lång) and CBT-short (KBT-kort). If you receive CBT-long through referral the maximum number of sessions is 25 + one follow up session. For CBT-short the maximum number of sessions is 13 + one follow up session. For private clients there is no limitation to the number of sessions.

Family counseling

Family counseling is a supportive and advising service that we offer families that face challenges in their family relations. Protecting the child’s rights is a central part of our work with families, as well as facilitating opportunities for change in the family system.

Family and couples therapy.jpg

Family and couples therapy

We all have a need of connection and closeness, but at the same time autonomy. We show our needs in different ways.  Oftentimes the problem lies in the communication pattern and not the other person.  In family and couples therapy you get the opportunity to explore these patterns. You will develop new ways of relating and interacting, which increases closeness, intimacy and deepens your love. This process of working with relational patterns together with the therapist requires harder work than family counseling. Our price for couples and family therapy is 1600 sek per hour.

Individual Counseling

There comes a time in most of our lives when we find ourselves in need of support from someone who is not a friend or family. In counseling you get help with issues including stress, anxiety, work and relational problems. Counseling can also be a first step to seeking psychotherapy, or just a one time phone call (telefonrådgivning). If you are uncertain about what type of treatment you are in need of we will coach you through it and make a care plan. Together we will find a method and therapist suited to your needs.
